how to live, love and create
Someone recently asked me for tips on being a good writer. I thought about it and realize that it really applies to everything in life. This is all pretty obvious, I suppose, but it’s what I’ve learned the hard way. It’s advice I would give anyone at any stage of life:
Find yourself. Get a sense of who you are, what makes you tick and what brings you joy. Take the time to hone your intuition and learn to go deep within your inner being to find answers. This might take some time. That’s okay. It’s worth it. Do the work and the grace will come.
Find your people. This might take some time and you might have to stand alone for a bit but it’s worth it. Knowing who’s got your back (and who doesn’t) gives you wings to fly. The wrong people will suck you dry. Notice that. With the right people, you will feel more yourself. With the right people you will feel synergy and be uplifted (and so will they). Notice that.
Once you have mastered the first two things, you will know who and what you can trust (including yourself) then…
Live, Love and Create FEARLESSLY and with RECKLESS ABANDON.
Don’t worry about time, money, housework or especially what people think of you. Just do it anyway. You will find what you need along the way. In truth, it will find you. Count on it.
More than anything, have fun. We didn’t come here to suffer, we came to enJOY ourselves. Anyone who tells you otherwise has an agenda. Walk away from them and towards your own highest good.
Here is one of my favorite poems by Rumi that really underscores this:
Today, like every other day, we wake up empty
and frightened. Don’t open the door to the study
and begin reading. Take down a musical instrument.Let the beauty we love be what we do.
There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground.
Kiss life today fearlessly and with reckless abandon like you would a lover’s feet in the height of passion! (You know you want to.) Here’s a song to inspire passion in your heart:
