weathered
At Loyola Beach there is a sweet space called Blue Jay Cafe. It’s closed for the season but they still have a weather-tuned piano outside for people to play on. So I did.
I shall title this masterpiece “Weathered”after both the piano tuning and my hands. Grain effect added for texture and whimsy. Both the song and the mistakes are my own so don’t steal them, however tempting that might be.
After this concert, I was wandering around and a gent names James with a dog named Jack started up a conversation with me. A patch of long, summer grass had been burnt to the ground and we talked about how it was sad but the grass would grow back.
I said, “Like after a wildfire, right?” and he agreed. I told him that reminded me of the pandemic and how we’re still working on bringing ourselves and the world around us to back to life after that devastation.
I’ve had several conversations near that piano and the cafe. People are friendlier here in Chicago than Seattle by a huge measure. I like it.
This is my evolving mood board in my journal. Apropos of everything.
A Blessing
May your meanderings bring you joy and delight, dear reader.
