the wonders of life
the girls and me from the archives
“Life is filled with suffering, but it is also filled with many wonders, like the blue sky, the sunshine, the eyes of a baby. To suffer is not enough. We must also be in touch with the wonders of life. They are within us and all around us, everywhere, any time.” ~Thich Nhat Hanh
I spent this past weekend with my girls. We had a fabulous, playful time together. Costumes, parties, dinner with friends, playing a game together, riding bikes to the store, doing homework together and just generally enjoying life. During the course of the weekend, independent of one another, my girls told me:
“You are the best mom anyone could ever have. I love you so much.”
and
“I love you so much! You’re the coolest mom in the whole world.”
It doesn’t really get much better than that. There are so many wonders every, single day. I am surrounded by love and I am so grateful. Here are a few pictorial memories of the weekend:
Biking home from the store with Gigi (we later ground up the coriander seeds we purchased with a mortar and pestle, infusing the house with fragrance).
Me with my friend, Leah. Her 3 year-old took this photo. The joy jumps out.
Dinner at our friends’ house. I had two different meals cooked for me this weekend. Love that!
I just love this photo that 3 year-old Wyatt took. It’s so blurry and artsy.
